Blooming poppies flood the meadow. There's a sea of bright orange leading up to the wall of large full trees in front of the far-off mountains. The sky is a hazy blue with light wispy clouds scattered across.
Details:

Dr. May Roberts is the Plant Genomics Lab Manager at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden where she helps support the genetic work that the researchers in the Conservation and Research Department are conducting on rare and endangered native plants. At this month’s Member’s Coffee, she will be sharing the story of one such Channel Islands endemic plant – the Santa Cruz Island Rockcress (Sibara filifolia) – and how the research conducted here directly informs the conservation strategies by land managers charged with protecting federally listed species. Come join us to hear about how genomic tools are being used in conservation and how new species discovery impact the protection of already listed species.
