Join us for a very special trip to Fry’s Harbor on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island. We will land on a rocky beach at the site of a rock quarry that was active from the mid-1920s until 1930. Rocks from this site were used to build the breakwater in the Santa Barbara Harbor. We will see some historic remnants of the quarry operation and explore the canyon above it. Trips are rarely offered to this location and require special permission from The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Participants must complete and sign waiver forms for TNC and the Garden prior to date of departure of the trip.

Participants should be in good physical condition. It is highly recommended that guests wear good hiking shoes and bring an extra pair of shoes for the beach landing. We also advise guests bring a plastic bag to protect their belongings and pack extra layers of clothing. There is no shade at this location therefore guests are advised to wear a hat and/or sunscreen for sun protection. Please bring with you lunch, snacks and water.
