Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Partners with Third Window Brewing Co. on Centennial Collaboration Celebrating Native Plants Through Craft Beer

By SBBG

Santa Barbara, Calif. – March 12, 2026 –  Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is raising a glass to 100 years of conservation with a special Centennial collaboration with Third Window Brewing Co. A longtime supporter of the Garden, this centennial collaboration will feature a series of seasonal, small-batch beers crafted with native plants from the Garden as an innovative tribute to California’s botanical heritage and the vital role native plants play in sustaining life on Earth.

“For 100 years, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden has championed native plants not only for their beauty, but for the vital role they play in sustaining biodiversity and resilient ecosystems,” said Liz Raffensperger, events and marketing project manager at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. “This collaboration with Third Window is a creative way to share that message and celebrate native plants in a whole new way.”

Third Window has consistently supported the Garden through its popular annual Beer Garden fundraiser, and this expanded collaboration reflects a shared commitment to place-based stewardship. Beyond the brews themselves, the collaboration extends the Garden’s Centennial message into the community. Seasonal small-batch bottle runs featuring the Garden’s logo and information about its Centennial will help raise awareness of the Garden’s mission to conserve native plants and habitats for the health and well-being of people and the planet.

“Craft beer is ultimately about honoring the land and the ingredients that make each region unique,” said Kris Parker, CEO and founder of Third Window Brewing Co. “Working with Santa Barbara Botanic Garden to incorporate native plants into these special releases allows us to tell a deeper story about Santa Barbara’s landscape and the importance of protecting it. We’re proud to partner with the Garden in its Centennial year and help raise a glass to the next 100 years of conservation.”

The first release, Saison Printemps 2026, is a seasonal farmhouse ale with hummingbird sage, lemon thyme and lemon zest, debuts on tap beginning March 14 at both of Third Window’s taprooms in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. Bottled versions will be released in the coming weeks. Additional limited-edition releases are planned for June, September, and December, each highlighting distinct native botanicals and seasonal expressions.

Planned seasonal releases (subject to change) include:
  • June: Mixed Culture Wild Ale with Wooly Blue Curls, Lemonade Berry and Desert Lavender, bottle conditioned with honey.
  • September: Mixed Culture Wild Ale with California Sagebrush, Wood Mint and Mugwort.
  • December: Mixed Culture Wild Ale featuring a White, Purple and Black Sage tea made with Mission Creek water, bottle conditioned with honey.

Each release will showcase the diversity and ecological richness of California’s native flora, while inviting the public to engage with the Garden’s broader conservation movement in an unexpected, accessible way.

As the Garden marks its Centennial, partnerships like this underscore its enduring impact — connecting science, community and culture to protect the native plants that sustain all life.
