Join us for a day trip to Santa Rosa Island – the second-largest island of the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. Participants will travel to Santa Rosa Island by boat from Ventura Harbor and will land at the pier near Vail Ranch. Our time on the Island will be spent exploring the ranch area, checking-out the one-room schoolhouse, and hiking on Cherry Canyon Trail.
Your guides for this trip will be Steve Junak, the Garden’s Herbarium Curator emeritus, and our gardener Holly Huff.
Location & Time:
Location and time: Our group will meet at the Ventura Harbor at 7:15 a.m. to prepare for the Island Packers boat to depart at 8 a.m. For the return trip the boat will depart from the island at 3 p.m. to arrive at Ventura Harbor at approximately 6 p.m. The boat trip will take approximately 2-3 hours each way.

General Public: $200

About the Instructors:
Steve Junak is the Garden’s Herbarium Curator emeritus, is an active researcher and expert on the flora of the islands of California and Baja California. He holds an M.A. in botany, has led field trips for more than 25 years, and has co-authored several books on the Channel Islands. Look for Steve’s trips to the Channel Islands for unique botanical experiences. Holly Huff is a gardener at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. She cares for the California and Baja California Island plant collections.
