Join the Garden for walks through Elings Park and help us discover the biodiversity of the area. Learn about pollinators, birds, invasive plants, bugs, and more. These walks are free and open to the public.
Location:
Elings Park – 1298 Las Positas Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93105. The group will meet just off the main parking lot by the park office.
Dates and times:
May 11 (9 am – 12 pm): We’ll kick-off this nature hike series with a “bioblitz”. Join us while we hike and use the iNaturalist app to survey the park’s ecosystem and learn more about what is growing and visiting (pollinators, birds, bugs) the park.
June 24 (9-10 am): Elings Park and its Plants. Hosted by our Director of Conservation and Research, Denise Knapp, Ph.D. and Annie Ayers, Herbarium Technician.
July 15 (9-10 am): Pollinators. Hosted by Sarah Cusser, Ph.D, Terrestrial Invertebrate Conservation Ecologist, and Kylie Etter, Conservation Technician.
August 19 (9-10 am): Invasive plants. Hosted by Denise Knapp, Ph.D., Director of Conservation and Research, and Jorge Renteria Bustamante, Ph.D., Applied Ecologist.
September 16 (9-10 am): Pollinators. Hosted by Sarah Cusser, Ph.D, Terrestrial Invertebrate Conservation Ecologist, and Kylie Etter, Conservation. Technician.
October 21 (9-10 am): Birds. Hosted by Scot Pipkin, Director of Education, and Zach Philips, Ph.D., Terrestrial Invertebrate Conservation Ecologist.
November 18 (9-10 am): Plants and Bugs. Hosted by Zach Philips, Ph.D., Terrestrial Invertebrate Conservation Ecologist, and José Flores, Conservation Technician.
