Rooted in the principles of ecopsychology, this workshop will explore the reciprocal relationship between humans and nature, and the profound connection between mental health and the natural world. Participants will be guided through nature-based mindfulness practices, reflective exercises, and gentle movement, including guided walking meditations, sensory awareness exercises, and journaling prompts inspired by the landscape. Local breathwork practitioner Madeleine Pizey will guide a breathwork session as a powerful practice for nervous system regulation, deepening presence, and fostering connection with the natural world. Together, these complementary practices will help participants experience how time in nature shifts the nervous system into a restorative state, fosters resilience, and deepens well-being through embodied connection with the natural world.

About the Instructors:

Dr. Lena Dicken is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, writer, and founder of The Outdoor Psychologist, an educational platform that explores the intersection of psychology, ecopsychology, and neuroplasticity. She is the creator of The OP Method, a nature-based therapeutic framework guiding people to reconnect with nature as a pathway to healing, personal growth, and collective wellbeing. She maintains an active clinical practice and shares her work through teaching, writing, and speaking engagements. A lifelong meditator, she holds certifications in Ecopsychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction from InsightLA, and brings a holistic, integrative approach to her practice. At the heart of her work is one core invitation: Get Outside Yourself.

Madeleine Pizey – Madeleine’s work grew out of her own healing journey and a truth she has come to know through experience: within each of us is an inner refuge. A place of intelligence, steadiness, and deep knowing, accessed through the body. With a Master’s degree in Mindfulness Studies and years of somatic, breath, and meditation training, she works with individuals, groups, and organizations to support embodiment, presence, and self-compassion, creating safe, attuned spaces where people can come back into relationship with their bodies and listen inward.
