Counselor-in-Training

Are you interested in learning more about our local plants and animals? Do you want to grow your educator and communication skills while connecting youth to native plants?  Are you looking for community service opportunities? 

Look no further than Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program. CIT’s will build their skills working with children while discovering how California’s native plants support healthy ecosystems. 

For our 2024 season, camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our camp season kicks off the week of June 17 and runs through the week of August 16.  


Requirements

To qualify for the Garden’s Summer Camp CIT Program, you must:

  • Be available for training on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  
  • Commit to volunteering for at least three camp sessions. See camp sessions here.  
  • Be between the ages of 14 and 17 years old  
  • Participate in an information virtual meeting
