Two women in mid-calf skirts and blouses sit in the meadow. It's a historic moment, captured in black and white, there's a stone tower in the center of a dirt circle. The expansive meadow is just dirt at this time, but the mountains still stand tall in the background and large bushy trees flow down into the garden.
Details:

Have you ever wondered how Santa Barbara Botanic Garden came to exist in such a beautiful setting? Would it surprise you to learn that much of it is a designed landscape?

Join landscape architect Susan Van Atta, FASLA, as she explores 100 years of landscape planning at the Garden. In 2012, Susan prepared a Cultural Landscape Master Plan for Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. She’ll share insights into the Garden’s rich design history—and how that legacy continues to shape the experience today.

We’ll gather at the Library and enjoy coffee and light pastries before heading out to explore the landscape with Susan.

Come for the coffee and donuts, the walk, or both! Gluten-free and vegan options will be available. We look forward to seeing you!

Coffee & pastries for this event generously donated by Dune Coffee Roasters and Anna’s Bakery
