Liz serves as the events and marketing project manager at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
Liz Raffensperger initially joined the Garden in 2021 as the marketing and communications coordinator, focusing on event management. Demonstrating her strong organizational skills and collaborative approach within her department and the organization, Liz earned a swift promotion after a year. In her current position, she manages all Garden events and facility rentals, overseeing the organization’s largest annual Santa Barbara Beer Garden fundraiser held every March. As her team’s marketing project manager, Liz is responsible for managing all marketing and communication initiatives, covering the website, social channels, public relations, digital marketing, and paid advertising. She ensures timely and budget-friendly project completion through cross-departmental collaboration.
In 2018, Liz graduated in the top 15% of her class from Colorado State University Global, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications while living in Santa Barbara, California. Her exceptional academic performance granted her membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society. Concurrently, while attending college full time, Liz served as a nanny for four young boys and interned with event planner Tanya Paye, owner of RSVP Weddings & Events.
Through her internship at RSVP Weddings & Events, Liz found her passion for the managerial aspects of event planning. Upon graduation, she promptly accepted a full-time position at La Tavola Fine Linen, now known as BBJ La Tavola. In her role as sales coordinator, Liz adeptly managed client interactions through various channels, enhanced sales in her territory through strategic analysis, and cultivated client relationships and brand awareness through marketing initiatives, product launches, and industry event participation. During this position, Liz cultivated relationships with numerous event professionals in Santa Barbara and concurrently served as assistant event planner and lead coordinator for RSVP Weddings & Events.
Today, when not on the phone with event vendors or managing her team’s numerous marketing projects for the Garden, Liz can be found at the beach with a book in hand, playing leisurely pickleball, or hosting themed dinner parties for her husband and friends.
