Linda Stirling
Board Member
Linda Stirling is a longtime educator in Santa Barbara, primarily at Peabody Charter School. In 2016, she was awarded Tri-County GATE Council’s educator of the year.
Linda has been a member of many nonprofit boards in the Santa Barbara area. As chair of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum’s Education Committee for many years, she was foundational to the museum’s success in nationally recognized education programs. She was also on the boards of the Junior League of Santa Barbara, Children’s Creative Project, UC Santa Barbara Alumni, All Saints-by-the-Sea Vestry, and Peabody Charter School and was a founding member of Santa Barbara County’s chapter of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She studied developmental psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in California and a master’s degree in education from University of California, Los Angeles.
Linda has a lifelong affiliation with Santa Barbara Botanic Garden and was a docent at the Garden for over 10 years. She is a graduate of the inaugural class of the UC Master Gardeners of Santa Barbara County whose meetings were hosted on the Garden’s grounds. Linda is passionate about conservation and education of California’s native plants, and she has spent countless hours with the Channel Islands Restoration group, gathering seeds, culling invasive and nonnative species, and planting rare seedlings in Santa Barbara and on San Nicolas Island.
