Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Video About the Power of Native Plants Wins “Best of Show” at Coastal California’s American Advertising Awards

“Are you Ready to Grow?”, Produced as Part of 2022 Rebranding Campaign, Also Wins Video/Film/Sound Branded Content Award

“The Garden is more than a beautiful place – it’s where we come together with a passion for nature and hope for the future,” says the Garden’s Marketing Director Jaime Eschette. “This video articulates the symbiotic relationship between plants and people and leaves audiences with a simple action to change the world – grow. We’re honored to see this work recognized and we hope it continues to inspire.”

The 1:50 minute video proposes that as the world faces threats of climate change and biodiversity loss, one of the most direct solutions lies in harnessing the regenerative power of native plants. It explores how native plants provide the foundation for life on Earth, and is intended inspire the viewer to take action. Filmed in the Garden in early 2022 and produced and directed in partnership with advertising agency J2 in Philadelphia. The music, Ancient Garden, was created by Hook Directory. Entries are first judged at a local level. Local winners then advance to 15 district competitions. Finally, district winners advance to the national finals. The district competition includes winners from the competitions from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, Coastal California (Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties), Inland Empire and Palm Springs. Gold winners from the district competition move on to compete in the national final to compete against the best work from throughout the nation.
