Join us in this hands-on workshop to learn all about vegetative propagation of native plants. Learn all about the proper techniques for taking cuttings from your own garden to grow native plants for your space and community. Join the Garden’s Horticultural Educator,Alejandro Lemus, to gain practical experience in propagating plants. Participants will go home with their own tray of cuttings.

This is an Advanced class in the Garden’s Horticulture Class schedule. Classes in the advanced track are geared towards the native plant gardener interested in building upon their existing skillset. Classes in this track cover California native plant propagation, pruning techniques and strategies, and irrigation troubleshooting. 

Although the Garden is dog-friendly, only service animals are permitted at this Garden class.

About the instructor:

Alejandro Lemus was born and raised in Los Angeles. He has experience working in habitat restoration, horticulture and education. As the Garden’s Horticultural Educator, Alejandro develops and implements horticulture programming for professional landscapers and residential gardeners. Having spent many years working in propagation and retail nurseries, Alejandro is passionate about growing native plants for conservation and informing the public of the benefits and beauty of habitat gardening.
