For this month’s CNPLC post-program training, we will be learning about the native plant business model from landscaper and educator, Emerson Funes. Emerson is a seasoned landscaper working in the Los Angeles area. He arrived in California from El Salvador when he was eight years of age. Since that time, he has been helping manage the family business: a small landscaping company. Working with and maintaining native plants has always been a part of his role and he is excited at the opportunity to share his experience with the broader landscape community. Join us to learn about the day-to-day of a practicing native plant landscaper, including information on starting out in the business, managing client expectations, and go-to native plants for the landscape. About the Instructor:

Alejandro Lemus was born and raised in Los Angeles. He has experience working in habitat restoration, horticulture and education. As the Garden’s Horticultural Educator, Alejandro develops and implements horticulture programming for professional landscapers and residential gardeners. Having spent many years working in propagation and retail nurseries, Alejandro is passionate about growing native plants for conservation and informing the public of the benefits and beauty of habitat gardening.
