Greg Wahlert, Ph.D.

Greg’s primary research interests are floristic studies in central California, phylogeny and diversification of the manzanitas and lupines.

In addition to his work as a research associate at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Greg Wahlert, Ph.D., is the Shirley Tucker curator of biodiversity collections and botanical research at the Vernon and Mary Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration at University of California, Santa Barbara. His primary research interests are floristic studies in central California, phylogeny and diversification of the manzanitas (Arctostaphylos spp.) and lupines (Lupinus spp.), systematics of the Violet Family (Violaceae), and taxonomic revision of various plant groups from Madagascar, including plants in the genera Rinorea (Violaceae), Grewia (Malvaceae), and Polygala (Polygalaceae).
