Nazani Mariam Cassidy

As the communications coordinator, Nazani ensures the social, magazine, and public relations channels run smoothly.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but raised in Santa Barbara, Nazani’s passion for native plants began while visiting Fairview Gardens and Santa Barbara Botanic Garden as a child. Nazani studied creative writing at Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan, before earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and media studies at Anglo-American University in Prague, Czech Republic. Nazani has a classical music radio broadcasting background and was a host of contemporary classical music shows on KCSB and Interlochen Public Radio. In Prague, Nazani served as the designer for her university’s student magazine and a program assistant for the European Journalism Institute. Her favorite native plant is Sambucus mexicana.

Nazani enjoys playing the cello, learning languages, and picnicking in her free time.
