Ethan Lowry co-founded the award-winning restaurant guide Urbanspoon, which became one of the most popular iPhone apps. Prior to Urbanspoon, he helped start a number of successful web companies including the online pharmacy Drugstore.com, the recruiting website Jobster, and the mobile startup Avogadro, which was later acquired by mobile-web pioneer Openwave. Ethan earned a bachelor’s degree in product design from Stanford University.
Most recently, Ethan co-founded Crowd Cow, a company that provides home delivery of farm-to-table meat directly from small, independent farms. Their mission is to create an alternative to the current meat commodity system and to foster a meaningful connection between the customer and the farmer, so people can know and appreciate exactly where their food comes from.
Just a stone’s throw from Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, he raised his kids in Mission Canyon and they’ve spent many happy hours playing in the Backcountry Section.
